If you’re undecided about a specific décor style and enjoy frequent changes, the best option for your bathroom is a neutral base. This way, you can add pops of color and patterns through other easily replaceable decorative elements.

Choose soft, neutral tones for your microcement walls in the bathroom. If you’re feeling bold, you can apply it to the floor or ceiling for a fully unified effect.

Why transform old tiled walls into beautiful microcement walls in your bathroom?

Tiles have been the kings of the bathroom for years. But not everything that shines is gold. Their biggest weakness? The grout lines. They collect dirt, darken over time, and if moisture seeps in, mold makes its appearance. And then comes the endless battle of scrubbing them with "miracle" products that never quite work. And even if they do, it’s never permanent—the mold will always come back!

Microcement changes the game. Goodbye grout lines, goodbye mold, goodbye never-ending cleaning. It applies directly over tiles, covering them completely and creating a smooth, uninterrupted surface. The result? A cleaner, more modern, and much easier-to-maintain bathroom—without even removing the tiles!

But it's not just about convenience. It’s also about style. No visual interruptions, no mismatched materials—just a uniform finish that gives your bathroom a more sophisticated, spacious, and harmonious look. And the best part? You can do it yourself, DIY style, without diving into an endless renovation. No dust, no debris, no waiting weeks to shower again.

The latest trend in microcement colors for your bathroom walls

Walls speak louder than you think. They reflect your style, shape your personality, and define the ambiance of your bathroom. And with microcement, you choose the color.

If you’re looking for calm and spaciousness, neutral tones are the safest bet: whites, sands, soft grays... Luminous, elegant, and always in style. A bathroom that radiates serenity, cleanliness, and modernity. But if standing out is your thing, there are plenty of bold choices: pastel blue for a sophisticated touch, aquamarine green for freshness and natural vibes, mocha mousse brown or vibrant coral pink for a bold, character-filled bathroom.

No strict rules. No forbidden colors for microcement walls in your bathroom. Just one question: How do you want to feel every time you step into your bathroom? Because ultimately, this is all about creating a space that speaks to you, fits your style, and makes you feel good every day.

How to apply microcement to your bathroom walls by yourself

You’ve decided to unleash your creativity and go for stunning microcement walls in your bathroom. Are you ready to dive into the world of DIY renovations? Renovating your bathroom walls with microcement isn’t magic, but we assure you that the result will enchant you. Just follow these steps to achieve not just a good finish—but a flawless, professional-looking one.

1. Clean and prepare the walls

Let's start with the basics: if the surface is dirty, the final result will be a disaster. And we don’t want that! First, get rid of dust, grease, and any dirt residues. And yes, apply masking tape on areas you don’t want to cover with microcement, because better safe than sorry.

2. Fill the joints and smooth the surface (if necessary)

If you have tiles, you have grout lines. And this is where Smart Jointer comes into play. Cover them properly, let it dry for 24 hours, then hand-sand with 40-grit sandpaper until the surface is completely smooth.

3. Apply the primer: the secret to perfect adhesion

Now it's time to prepare the surface so that the microcement adheres perfectly. Using a roller, apply a thin layer of primer—without excess. If you're applying microcement on marble, terrazzo, or tile, we recommend Smart Primer PLUS. If your walls are plaster or drywall, Smart Primer ABS is what you need. Let it dry for 30 minutes. Take a deep breath and imagine how amazing your bathroom will look.

4. Apply the microcement base: the transformation begins

Here comes the exciting part—microcement starts working its magic on your bathroom walls. Stir Smart Base thoroughly and apply a thin layer (less than 1 mm thick). Apply the first coat in one direction and the second in the opposite direction to ensure even coverage. No clumps, no build-ups—the key is a smooth, uniform layer. Then, take a polycarbonate trowel at a 45º angle and smooth with arch-like movements in all directions, as if you were painting a masterpiece.

Apply two coats with Smart Roller and the polycarbonate trowel, then remove the masking tape. Let each layer dry for 6 hours and sand after each coat using 40-grit sandpaper (manual, not electric) to remove any rough spots.

5. Apply the finish: the final touch that makes all the difference

Now comes Smart Liso. The process is the same, but now with extra precision. Apply even thinner layers (less than 0.5 mm) using Smart Roller, and smooth it out with the polycarbonate trowel.

6. Seal the microcement walls with varnish for long-lasting durability

Now for the final step—sealing. This is what will ensure your microcement walls stand the test of time and daily wear and tear.  Add Smart Booster to the Smart Varnish container, mix gently, and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Meanwhile, apply masking tape to protect the areas you don’t want to coat.

Once the mixture is ready, apply the first of three coats of varnish. Important: Varnish has a 24-hour lifespan, so use it efficiently. Allow 4 hours of drying time between coats. After the first and second coats, sand lightly with 400-grit sandpaper.

Once the final coat is applied, remove the masking tape and let it cure completely. After 7 days, it will reach maximum durability. Is there anything more satisfying than that?
No debris. No dust. No weeks of messy renovations. Just a fully renovated bathroom—made by your own hands. If you’ve followed all the steps, you now have microcement walls in your bathroom that look straight out of a magazine. And the best part? You did it yourself. So yes, you can officially call yourself a pro!
Now that you know how quick and easy it is to renovate your bathroom walls with microcement, you won’t be able to resist its charm. That’s why we invite you to take the final step, get to work on this “non-renovation,” and say goodbye once and for all to those walls that do nothing but reflect decay and outdated style.
